"But in the meantime the president and I -- the president's going to continue to do everything we can within our executive authority to try to reduce gun violence in America."Gun violence legislation - including increasing background checks, limiting gun magazines and mental health provisions - pushed by the White House after the Newtown, Connecticut elementary school shooting failed on Capitol Hill earlier this year.Even as that effort failed, President Barack Obama and Biden hit the road for a series of campaign-style events making their case for reforms.The first action closes a loophole that could allow individuals prohibited from purchasing certain restricted weapons to do so legally by registering them under the name of a trust or corporation.
