MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) investigated a report of shots fired on Highway 145 and 76th Street Monday, Sept. 23.It happened shortly before 5 p.m.There were no injuries.All lanes of Highway 145 northbound were closed, and traffic was diverted off of the highway while deputies canvassed the roadway, which later reopened to traffic.

Driver arrested for OWI after crash on I-94 EB at Hawley Road

MILWAUKEE -- A 28-year-old woman was arrested for OWI after a crash Sunday evening, Sept. 22 on I-94 eastbound near Hawley Road.It happened shortly before 5:30 p.m., and involved two vehicles -- with one passenger pinned inside the vehicle that was struck.That person was extricated, and taken to the hospital.Witnesses said the driver of the striking vehicle lost control of her vehicle, and then struck the other vehicle.A deputy detected and odor of intoxicants, and field sobriety tests were "performed poorly," sheriff's officials said.She was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, and arrested on charges of OWI, causing great bodily harm.

Police: Man stabbed at Zebb's Family Restaurant; 6 assailants involved

MILWAUKEE -- A man was being treated for his injuries he was stabbed at Zebb's Family Restaurant near 27th Street and Morgan Avenue on Milwaukee's south side.Police said it happened just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Sept. 22.According to police, the assailants approached the victim in the restaurant, and a fight ensued between both groups.During the fight, a large hunting knife was displayed, and the victim was cut, causing injury.The man's injuries were not life-threatening, and he was transported to a hospital for stitches.Police said late Sunday morning they were close to identifying one of the six assailants.An investigation was ongoing.

Man convicted in 2008 Milwaukee homicide gets life in prison for murder of cellmate

COLUMBIA COUNTY -- A man convicted in a 2008 homicide was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after he was found guilty of killing his cellmate.Dexter Ewing, 46, was convicted by a jury on one count of first degree intentional homicide, persistent repeater -- filed in March 2015.Prosecutors said Ewing killed his cellmate, Jerome Scott, 40, at the Columbia County Correctional Institution in Portage in February 2015.According to prosecutors, an autopsy determined Scott's cause of death was ligature strangulation.Detectives met with Ewing, who told them he and Scott had been cellmates for about two weeks.

MILWAUKEE -- A 15-year-old boy is in the hospital following a shooting near 91st and Appleton Friday night, Sept. 20.According to police, the victim was playing in the area when an argument ensued between some men and shots were fired.The boy sustained a graze wound that was not life-threatening.

Facebook suspends thousands of apps but user impact unclear
