Police: 52-year-old man seriously hurt in shooting near 11th and Atkinson

MILWAUKEE -- A 52-year-old man was shot and wounded near 11th and Atkinson Sunday evening, Sept. 29.It happened just before 6 p.m.The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.Police said the circumstances surrounding the shooting were under investigation.Police were seeking the shooter.

Red Cross assists 13 people following duplex fire near 38th and Villard

MILWAUKEE -- Thirteen received aid from the Red Cross following a duplex fire near 38th and Villard Saturday night, Aug. 31.According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, there were heavy flames upon the arrival of firefighters around 9:30 p.m., which were knocked down quickly.The building to the south had melted siding, but the fire did not enter that building.No civilian injuries were reported, but three firefighters were evaluated for exhaustion.

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee Fire Department were called out to a two-alarm fire at a building near Park Place and Downer Avenue in Milwaukee Saturday evening, Aug. 31.It happened around 7:30 p.m.MFD officials said when firefighters arrived, there was heavy fire on the second and third floor of the building -- which was occupied at the time.Everyone was able to get out safely.
