"Charlie's a very skilled debater," said Olikara, who once ran for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin. "I obviously was not part of the movement that he was building, but I actually think that having these spirited debates is what America needs more of. I mean, we were disagreeing on many issues, but that's OK. I think we need more of that.
"I think the way that we resolve political differences in America needs to be through words and votes and not through weapons."

Olikara said he "generally enjoyed" his conversations with Kirk and enjoyed getting to know him as a person.
Former Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, also said he recently enjoyed time with Kirk.
"I’m just heartbroken. I mean, I just saw him a couple of weeks ago at Wrigley Field. Of course, he’s a Cubs fan – I’m a Brewers fan," said Walker. "His wife was there. I got the wonderful chance to talk to his parents, who talked of him watching our recall election years ago, getting involved in that. How proud I was of him and all that he’s done."
Kirk in Wisconsin
Local perspective:
Kirk's Turning Point Action held political rallies in Wisconsin and knocked on doors. He held events at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, too, and spoke on the main stage.
"I hear a lot from young people about their hopes, their dreams and their fears. You see, young people are idealists. They respond to vision," Kirk said at the RNC.
Kirk’s Turning Point USA has chapters across the country, including at Arrowhead High School in Hartland.
"I think it's gonna be stronger," said Turner Dittrich, the chapter’s leader. "I think people have had enough of the evil that's been taking place in our country the last few years.

"Promoting truth is a big part of it. Growing and reaching out to people that haven't really been reached out to."
Turning Point USA also has a chapter listed at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Walker said his group, which also caters to college students, is going to be looking at security protocols for events.
