Police finish investigation into allegations New Berlin teacher had sexual contact with student
NEW BERLIN -- New Berlin police said on Thursday, February 18th they have finished their investigation into alleged inappropriate sexual contact between a female New Berlin West High School teacher and a 17-year-old male student.Police say their report has been sent over to the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office for possible charging.Following an internal investigation, the teacher was fired from the school.Officials with the School District of New Berlin said they learned of the allegations on January 15th.The 28-year-old teacher was immediately placed on administrative leave.After an internal investigation by the School District of New Berlin, the teacher was fired.

NEW BERLIN -- Officials with the City of New Berlin say they will not consolidate polling places for future elections following some longer lines during voting in the spring primary election on Tuesday, February 16th.City officials say voter turnout in New Berlin, Waukesha County, and the state of Wisconsin as a whole was "much larger" than expected.Wisconsin Government Accountability Board officials had estimated voter turnout to be around 10% for the spring primary.The City of New Berlin experienced a 15% turnout.Officials say lines at the polls and wait times for voters were also a result of new, slower voting machines mandated by Waukesha County, a shortage of ballots in Waukesha County, the higher-than-expected voter turnout, and the consolidation of polling places in New Berlin.In an effort to save taxpayer dollars, city officials chose to consolidate election sites -- utilizing just one polling location at City Hall on Tuesday.Officials say this was done in previously anticipated low turnout elections with much success and cost savings.But it won't be done in the future, due to the issues experienced on Tuesday. “In light of the wait times experienced by our voters on Tuesday, 2/16 and the extreme unpredictability of election turnouts as evidenced by this past election, moving forward the city will no longer combine polling locations.

WAUKESHA COUNTY -- Waukesha County Sheriff's officials have released photos to FOX6 News after a vehicle being pursued by a deputy struck another deputy's squad early on Saturday morning, February 13th.It happened around 2:15 a.m.Sheriff's officials say a deputy attempted a traffic stop on a Jeep Compass headed westbound on I-94, west of Moorland Road in Brookfield for operating without its lights illuminated.Another deputy was responding to a citizen complaint regarding a possible intoxicated driver in the same area.The Jeep Compass failed to yield to the squad's emergency lights and siren as it continued westbound on I-94 at approximately 40 miles-per-hour.

110mph on I-94: Two men arrested following separate pursuits in Waukesha County
WAUKESHA COUNTY -- Waukesha County Sheriff's officials arrested two people following separate pursuits in Waukesha County.Sheriff's officials say on Sunday, February 14th, around 12:30 a.m., a deputy on patrol on State Highway 164 near Watertown Road in Pewaukee observed a vehicle stop behind the squad, which then began reversing down the divided highway.The vehicle made a quick U-turn and accelerated away from the squad.The squad caught up to the vehicle and observed that it matched the description of a vehicle Waukesha police had been involved in a pursuit with on I-94 earlier Saturday.
