CALEDONIA -- Caledonia police are urging residents near the Lakeshore Village Apartments to be vigilant after several vehicles have been stolen within the past three days.According to police, the thefts took place from June 13th through June 16th, and three vehicles were been stolen from the Lakeshore Village apartments located on 3 Mile Road and N.

RACINE -- The Racine Zoo is excited to announce the addition of new animals to the Benstead Discovery Center, located near the main entrance of the Zoo, to highlight unique, creepy, crawly, and misunderstood animals of the world.New exhibits within the Benstead Discovery Center include a Western fox snake, an anaconda, a rhinoceros iguana, and a Caledonian giant gecko.According to a press release, a second new exhibit showcases a colony of 11 straw-colored fruit bats.

Caledonia police use Narcan to save life of possible heroin overdose victim

CALEDONIA -- Caledonia policed saved the life of a 33-year-old Wind Lake woman who was found unconscious in the bathroom of a Sia Mart— possibly from a heroin overdose.Officers were dispatched to the Sai Mart located on 7 Mile Road near I-94 for an unresponsive woman in the bathroom.

One-year-old taken to the hospital after being bitten by dog in Racine

RACINE -- A one-year-old child was taken to the hospital for treatment after being bitten by a dog on Jerome Boulevard near Taylor Avenue in Racine on Thursday evening, June 2nd.The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m.When officials arrived on scene they were met by the child's grandfather, who stated that the family dog,  a 6-year-old American Bulldog Boxer, had bit the one-year-old in the face and head while the child was playing on the floor.The grandfather told police he had to pry the family dog off of the child's head.The child received severe trauma to his head.According to the Racine Fire Department, the child was transported to All Saints Hospital in Racine, then airlifted via Flight for Life to Children's Hospital.

CALEDONIA --  The man accused of passing counterfeit $20 bills in Caledonia has turned himself in, according to officials.According to police, the suspect entered the Speedway gas station on Douglas Avenue near 4 Mile Road on May 26th and attempted to purchase a pre-paid debit card with the counterfeit bills.The transaction was denied.According to police, the suspect became aware that authorities were looking for him through various Facebook posts and turned himself in at the Caledonia Police Department at 7:43 p.m.The suspect was transported to the Racine County Law Enforcement Center where he is being held pending review of charges.

Racine County: Crews extinguish grease fire inside Burger King on Beck Drive

RACINE COUNTY -- Racine County officials are responding to a grease fire taking place at the Burger King restaurant located on Beck Drive in the Village of Rochester Friday afternoon, May 27th.According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, the fire started at approximately 1:04 p.m.Officials say the fire was contained to a small area in the restaurant and was extinguished quickly.Fire crews are still at the scene as of 2:00 p.m. Friday.No injuries have been reported.There is some water damage as a result of this fire.
