KENOSHA/RACINE COUNTY -- A chain-reaction crash backed up traffic on I-94 near County Highway A in Kenosha County on Saturday, July 6.According to the Somers Fire Department, six vehicles were involved and a total of 13 people were checked out at the scene; some had minor injuries.

KENOSHA -- The Kenosha Police Department is investigating a bar shooting that left a 28-year-old man injured Sunday, June 30.According to officials, the shooting happened inside the MVP Bar around 1:26 a.m. A 28-year-old man suffered one gunshot wound to the neck and was transported by the Kenosha Fire Department to a nearby hospital.

Detainee at Kenosha County Detention Center diagnosed with mumps

KENOSHA COUNTY -- A detainee at the Kenosha County Detention Center (KCDC) has a confirmed case of mumps, the Kenosha County Division of Health announced Tuesday, June 4.The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department was notified of the mumps case from members of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement office.The sheriff's office says the detainee at KCDC was showing symptoms of an infectious viral disease, transferred to a different facility, and is receiving treatment.Precautions were immediately implemented and the dorm where the detainee was being held was placed into isolation.Mumps is spread through direct contact with saliva or respiratory droplets from the mouth nose, or throat.The sheriff's department says they're working in conjunction with the Kenosha County Division of Health to facilitate the testing procedures to ensure the safety of all department personnel and people held in custody.For more information, contact your local health care provider or Kenosha County Division of Health at 262-605-6775.

50 years in prison for man convicted in 2 sexual assaults on Kenosha County Bike Trail in 2018

KENOSHA -- A Kenosha man convicted in two sexual assaults that happened on the Kenosha County Bike Trail in March and May of 2018 was sentenced to prison Wednesday, May 29.Reginaldo Etienne, 32, in February pleaded guilty to two of 10 charges against him -- two counts of second degree sexual assault/use of force.In court Wednesday, Etienne was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison and 15 years' extended supervision on each count -- to be served consecutively, for a total of 50 years in prison and 30 years' extended supervision.Sheriff's officials said the victim from the May 2018 attack fought the suspect, which resulted in the critical DNA evidence that led to the arrest.According to sheriff's officials, on March 25, 2018 and May 21, 2018, investigators responded to separate sexual assault complaints that occurred on the Kenosha County Bike Trail.

'No subjects located' after report of person 'yelling for help' drew law enforcement to Kenosha County park

TOWN OF WHEATLAND -- A report of someone yelling for help led to a large law enforcement presence at the New Munster Wildlife Area in the Town of Wheatland Monday, May 27.Officials with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department said investigators responded around 11:30 a.m. By 3:45 p.m., the search was called off, and no one in need of help was located.The search took place in the 1,226-acre New Munster Wildlife Area and involved K-9 teams, a drone team, ATVs and search personnel on foot.Multiple agencies responded, including the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, Village of Twin Lakes Police Department, Town of Wheatland Fire Department, Village of Twin Lakes Fire and Rescue, Town of Randall Fire Department, Village of Salem Lakes Fire and Rescue, Town of Paris Fire and Rescue, and the Newport Township Fire Department.Residents were encouraged to report anything suspicious to law enforcement.

7-year-old seriously hurt after driver rear ends vehicle in Bristol
