MILWAUKEE — There will be increased patrols across Wisconsin during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign that begins Friday, Aug. 16 and continues through Labor Day, Sept. 2.The Wisconsin Department of Transportation utilizes federal funds to support the stepped-up law enforcement efforts and public education and outreach on the dangers of impaired driving.“As we approach the last major holiday of the summer season, we’re asking for the cooperation of all motorists to help us prevent needless tragedies along our roadways by being safe, alert, and responsible every time they travel,” said Craig Thompson, WisDOT secretary-designee, in a news release.According to WisDOT, in 2018 in Wisconsin, alcohol-related crashes resulted in 159 deaths and nearly 3,300 injuries.

NEW YORK -- United Airlines is setting an earlier cut-off time when pilots must stop drinking alcohol before flights.The airline is telling pilots they must abstain from alcohol for 12 hours before flights, up from a previous ban lasting eight hours.The change in the so-called bottle-to-throttle rule comes after two United pilots were arrested in Scotland and charged with suspicion of being under the influence before a flight to the U.S.The old 8-hour limit complied with Federal Aviation Administration rules, which also prohibit pilots from flying with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.04%.A United Airlines spokesman says the new policy was sent to pilots a week ago and took effect last Saturday.

Supervisor Sebring also condemned the actions of the museum and MCTS for "approving the anti-law enforcement message."
