Last MCTS buses to pull out of downtown transit center this weekend

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) buses will pull out of the Downtown Transit Center (DTC) for the final time this weekend.The Transit Center property was sold by Milwaukee County to developer Rick Barrett who is redeveloping the land into the Couture project.

MCTS: Changes coming for several bus routes through downtown Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- The sale and demolition of the Downtown Transit Center means changes for several MCTS routes that run through downtown Milwaukee.The new routes will allow riders improved access to the Milwaukee Intermodal Station (Route 12) and a direct route to grocery stores, restaurants, and the Lakefront for people living on the west side (Route 33).

MCTS officials: Stay cool on a county bus when the heat is on

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Transit System want to remind riders they will always have a cool place to go when the heat is on -- any MCTS bus.Officials say all buses have air conditioning that keep passengers at a comfortable 72 degrees.

MCTS driver hailed for helping 15-year-old girl get away from harassing man

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus driver is being recognized for helping a 15-year-old girl escape from a man who was harassing and following her.MCTS officials say Sharon Chambers was about to pull away from a bus stop at Sherman and Silver Spring on Monday morning, June 13th when she noticed a girl waving in her direction."I thought she was just running to catch the bus, but as she walked in front of the bus I noticed she was crying," Chambers was quoted in a news release. "I told her to get on the bus and let her know no one was going to mess with her on my bus."Chambers drove away from the area in case the man was still following the girl.

$35K reward offered in shooting of Za'layia Jenkins: "To those who took her life, we will catch you"

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee Police Department hope that two rewards -- one offered by Attorney Michael Hupy and one offered by the FBI will lead to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the shooting of Za'layia Jenkins.The nine-year-old girl, who would have turned 10 years old on Tuesday, May 17th was "legally pronounced dead/brain dead" at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16th, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office."MPD was notified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office that the hospital had notified them that Za'layia was in a condition of brain death -- essentially, she had expired," MPD Captain Aaron Raap said Tuesday.Za'layia's cousin told FOX6 News she remains on life support.
