Department of Public Works: Broadway Bascule Bridge open for Summerfest's 11-day run
MILWAUKEE -- The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) reminds the traveling public that the Broadway Bascule Bridge over the Milwaukee River will be fully open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic for the entire Summerfest festival run beginning Tuesday, June 23rd at 5:00 p.m.Following Summerfest on Monday, July 6th, traffic on the Broadway Bridge will once again be limited to one lane in each direction.Additional traffic updates for the bridge will be announced as work progresses.The entire bridge project is expected to be completed by September 2015, weather permitting.The Broadway Bascule Bridge is the first moving bridge that boats and ships pass through on their way from Lake Michigan to the Milwaukee and Menomonee rivers and the Downtown Milwaukee area.
