"Extremely rare," but Shorewood residents frustrated by series of gas service interruptions

SHOREWOOD -- There is growing frustration in Shorewood over gas service interruptions.After a couple of weeks of confusion, Ken Kapp is concerned.On Tuesday, December 15th, the Shorewood man, who lives near the intersection of Edgewood and Downer, is a block away from where We Energies crews responded to another residential gas service interruption resulting from a contractor striking a main."It's not a very comfortable feeling," said Kapp.

Construction crews strike gas line in Shorewood; residents briefly evacuated

SHOREWOOD -- We Energies crews were on the scene of a gas leak in Shorewood on Monday, December 14th -- for the second time in less than a week.We're told a construction crew struck a steel natural gas main near Downer and Stratford in Shorewood.The flow of gas was shut off by We Energies officials.

We Energies officials: Power restored for customers in Oak Creek, South Milwaukee

OAK CREEK -- We Energies officials say power has been restored to customers in the Oak Creek and South Milwaukee on Thursday evening, December 10th.We Energies officials were able to re-route power to areas that didn't have power issues, resulting in a number of people getting power restored.This outage involved more than 6,000 customers at its peak.We Energies crews were heading to check out a possible source of the outage at Nicholson Road and County Line Road on the border of Oak Creek and Caledonia.On Thursday night, there were 240 customers without power in the Kenosha County area as well.

SHOREWOOD -- Construction workers doing underground boring in a Shorewood neighborhood struck a gas line on Thursday morning, December 10th.

Power temporarily out for businesses, residences in Brown Deer

BROWN DEER -- Power was out for nearly 190 customers in Brown Deer for a portion of Monday evening, December 7th.The outage affected multiple businesses and residences near Brown Deer and Green Bay Roads -- including the FOX6 Studios.Around 6:15 p.m., power had been restored to most of the area.

We Energies: Dozens of business customers targeted by scammers this weekend

MILWAUKEE -- We Energies officials say they received dozens of calls this past weekend from business customers reporting they had received scam calls.We're told between 60 and 75 business customers called We Energies this weekend -- indicating they had received calls from someone who claimed they need to pay an overdue bill within the next few hours, or their service would be shut off.It is unknown whether anyone fell victim to this scam this weekend.FOX6 News has warned you about this scam recently.We Energies officials say this year, to date, there have been 30 business customer victims who have lost $24,000 as a result of this scam.This year, We Energies has taken more than 1,000 calls from business customers saying they were targeted with this type of scam.Scammers seem to be targeting restaurants, nail salons and vet clinics.Just this weekend, reports of the scam being attempted came from all over the We Energies service area, including Kenosha, Milwaukee, Waukesha and the Fox Valley.If you receive a phone call that doesn't seem right -- you're asked to contact We Energies directly at 1-800-242-9137.CLICK HERE for more on this scam from We Energies -- and tips on what you can do if you get one of these scam calls.

Whipping winds had some busy dealing with downed tree limbs, power outages Thursday

KENOSHA -- A Wind Advisory was issued for all of southeastern Wisconsin until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12th -- and it was quite the blustery day!On Thursday afternoon, Larry Oliver was working to help clean up, after a limb was ripped from a friend's tree in Kenosha.

We Energies: Heating costs could be lowest in more than a decade

MILWAUKEE -- We Energies issued Wednesday, October 21st  its 2015-16 winter heating cost forecast –predicting that the cost for the typical residential natural gas customer for this winter’s heating season will be less than the cost for any winter season since 2001-02.Based on a normal winter and natural gas prices remaining where they are today on the spot market, the average residential customer would pay $489 between Nov. 1, 2015, and April 30, 2016.Along with being the lowest-cost heating season in 14 years, the average residential customer would pay:

MILWAUKEE/WAUWATOSA -- We Energies officials say roughly 6,000 customers were without service after a gas main was struck at the intersection of Hawley Road and Wisconsin Avenue, along the Milwaukee and Wauwatosa border on Friday, October 16th."It was kind of nuts.

Statewide crime alert: We Energies customers targeted in pre-paid debit card scam

MILWAUKEE --  The Wisconsin Department of Justice released a report on Wednesday, September 16th saying more than 700 Wisconsin residents have been targeted by a prepaid card scam, costing them $18,000.
