Waukesha man arrested for OWI after sideswiping Racine County Sheriff's deputy's squad

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- A 66-year-old Waukesha man was arrested for his first OWI after Racine County Sheriff's officials say he struck a Sheriff's deputy's squad car on Friday night, October 10th.It happened just after 11:30 p.m. in the Town of Yorkville.Racine County Sheriff's officials say the Sheriff's deputy was assisting two motorists whose vehicle had broken down in the construction area on I-94 northbound, just south of State Highway 20.The deputy was providing traffic control so the vehicle could be loaded onto a tow truck and removed from the area when the 66-year-old man's vehicle sideswiped the deputy's squad.The stranded motorists weren't injured, and their vehicle wasn't struck.Sheriff's officials say the tow truck driver was struck by debris from the incident, but he wasn't injured.Sheriff's officials say the deputy suffered minor injuries as he was seated in the squad when it was struck.The 66-year-old operator of the striking vehicle wasn't injured.

Five arrested after allegedly trying to steal vehicle from Manheim Auto Auction

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's Deputies took five individuals into custody Tuesday, September 9th after they allegedly tried to steal a vehicle from the Manheim Auto Auction in the Town of Raymond.According to officials, the Racine County Communications Center received a call around 3:45 p.m. about people cutting the fence to the Manheim Auto Auction on 27th Street.Police says the suspects fled to a getaway vehicle waiting at a nearby business after being confronted by security personnel.The caller was able to provide a description of the getaway vehicle and the suspects.Racine County Sheriff's Deputies located the getaway vehicle and took five individuals into custody.Racine officials say their investigation revealed that the suspects cut a large hole in the exterior fencing of Manheim Auto Auction and unsuccessfully attempted to jump a stolen vehicle over a wooden barrier and through the fence at the perimeter of the property.The five suspects are being help at the Racine County Jail on multiple felony charges. 

Illinois man crashes motorcycle in Town of Burlington

RACINE CO. (WITI) -- Racine County officials are investigating a motorcycle crash that happened in the Town of Burlington on Sunday evening, AUgust 24th.The wreck occurred just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of County Highway J and State Highway 11 in the Town of Burlington.

"Would you like to see the inside of my vehicle?" Potential "stranger danger" under investigation

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say they've been made aware of a possible child enticement incident occurring in the Village of Waterford.Officials say two 14 year olds were approached by a white man -- who apparently asked them if they would like to see the inside of his vehicle.The incident occurred near the intersection of Main Street and Jefferson Street in the Village of Waterford.Sheriff's officials have been able to determine the suspect is a middle-aged, unshaven white man.

Man, woman and dog rescued by Water Patrol in Racine after their sailboat takes on water

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say two people in a sailboat, and a dog had to be rescued after their sailboat began taking on water on Sunday afternoon, August 3rd.The Racine County Sheriff's Office's Water Patrol took the call just before 4:00 p.m. Sunday.Sheriff's officials say the caller reported he was in a 33-foot sailboat north of Wind Point, about a quarter-mile from shore, that ran aground and was taking on water.The Sheriff's Office's Water Patrol responded to the scene.Officials say the boat's occupants said they were unaware of where the water was entering the boat.

Another pursuit! This one in Racine, Wednesday afternoon; one person in custody

RACINE (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned of another police pursuit -- this one occurring in Racine County on Wednesday afternoon, July 23rd.Racine County Sheriff's officials say just before 4:30 p.m., a Racine County Sheriff's deputy observed a vehicle being operated northbound on I-94 -- north of County Highway C that he had previously stopped about a half-hour prior.

Skydiver killed Sunday after two skydivers miss their landing in Sturtevant

STURTEVANT (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say a skydiver was killed on Sunday evening, July 20th in Sturtevant.Racine County Sheriff's officials were dispatched to Skydive Midwest just after 5:30 p.m. to the scene of a skydiving accident near 56th Road in Sturtevant.Witnesses told officials two male skydivers missed their landing at Sylvania Airport -- instead landing onto 56th Road adjacent to the airport.One of the skydivers died at the scene, and the second skydiver sustained minor injuries.The cause of the skydiving accident is under investigation.Names of those involved haven't been released.---Skydive Midwest had some trouble in August and October of 2012.On August 25th, 2012, a Skydive Midwest plane was forced to make an emergency landing after developing some mechanical problems.

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's officials are seeking the public's help in determining who is responsible for vandalism that has caused significant property loss and damage in the Rochester and Waterford areas since late June.Racine County Sheriff's officials say they have received numerous calls regarding vandalism to property in the Waterford and Rochester areas.

Sheriff's officials: Man found unconscious, bleeding inside residence in Town of Norway

TOWN OF NORWAY (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say early Saturday morning, July 5th they were called out to a residence in the 6000 block of Loomis Road in the Town of Norway for a man unconscious and bleeding.The man is a 33-year-old from the Town of Norway.He was found by his roommate inside the residence.He was taken to Burlington Memorial Hospital -- and was later transferred to Froedtert Hospital.Racine County Sheriff's officials say the cause of his injuries is under investigation.
