AAA: Nearly 47 million Americans expected to travel this Fourth of July holiday

MILWAUKEE -- AAA projects nearly 47 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more away from home this Independence Day holiday, a five percent increase from last year and the most travelers for the holiday since AAA began tracking 18 years ago.According to AAA, the Independence Day holiday period is defined as Tuesday, July 3 to Sunday, July 8.

Scouts honor veterans for Memorial Day with gravesite flags

LOS ANGELES — Thousands of scouts have placed American flags on the graves of veterans in a ceremony ahead of Memorial Day.More than 6,000 children including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts participated in the event Saturday at Los Angeles National Cemetery.Each scout placed a flag in the ground by each grave and saluted.Organizers say nearly 90,000 flags were placed in tribute.
