A deepening low moves away from us today with colder air arriving and rain changing to snow. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until Noon for areas west and north of Milwaukee. An inch or more of slushy accumulation is possible in those spots. We should slowly dry up today and clear overnight with sunshine returning tomorrow.

Outbreak of severe storms pounding the South with destructive winds, tornadoes on Wednesday

Severe storms will impact some of the same places that were hit hard by last week's outbreak of severe weather, which resulted in more than 60 confirmed tornadoes over three days.

Rain continues this afternoon and evening then changes over to wintry mix and snow Thursday. A couple inches of slushy accumulation will be possible, especially away from the lake. Sunshine returns Friday then another round of light rain/snow mix to start the weekend.

NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a Geomagnetic Storm Watch and predicts the storm could reach level 3 on their 5-level scale when the flares arrive around Wednesday evening.

High pressure exits to the right as a stronger low moves our way. We warm into the low 40s today with rain arriving later in the day. Wind gusts will be in the 30-35mph range later today and tonight and there is a risk of thunderstorms overnight. Rain and a chance for thunderstorms continues on Wednesday with a chance for snow as the low exits on Thursday.

Tractor-trailers and other vehicles lost control and slammed into each other, people leapt away from careering trucks seconds before collision and at least three people were killed and more than a dozen others injured during a snow squall on a Pennsylvania highway Monday.
