Intersection in downtown Milwaukee closes as cars slip and slide

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- On Thursday afternoon, February 7th as the snow fell in southeastern Wisconsin, the intersection of Jefferson and Lyon was closed down for a time, after cars struggled to get up and down the hill in the slippery conditions.Harry Vega has lived near the intersection for 22 years, and says whenever it snows, the same thing happens.

Shoveling and fun in the snow in Ozaukee County

OZAUKEE COUNTY (WITI) -- Crews and residents in Port Washington and other areas north of Milwaukee were dealing with wet, heavy snow and slippery, snow-covered roadways as the storm moved through on Thursday, February 7th.The snow stuck to the roadways and slowed up traffic Thursday afternoon -- and particularly during rush hour.Meanwhile, the snow meant for fun for the kids!Blocks from where Melissa Centgraf dug out on Thursday night, Phallyn and his dad, George Basgall were working to build a snowman.Port Washington's Director of Streets told FOX6 News plows were out early Thursday morning, and will stay out until the snow stops falling and the streets are cleared.Erik Ziehr and his friends had some fun with their homemade snowboard ramp on Thursday."I was kind of hoping for a snow day today, but that didn't happen," Ziehr said.FOX6 News came upon a two vehicle crash that was one of many fender benders on Thursday.

Mitchell Airport: Most flights arriving, departing as normal

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- With snow in southeastern Wisconsin on Thursday, February 7th, and a Winter Storm Warning in effect for most of the day, there were concerns of flight delays or cancellations at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport.As of 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, a Mitchell Airport spokesman told FOX6 News all runways were open at the airport.

Kenosha declares full snow emergency for Thursday

KENOSHA CO. (WITI) -- Kenosha County Sheriff's officials reported 14 cars in the ditch between 10:00 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. on Thursday, February 7th as the snow fell, and southeastern Wisconsin was under a Winter Storm Warning.Kenosha County Sheriff's officials say they responded to over 30 cars in ditches as of 4:00 p.m. Additionally, Kenosha County saw four personal injury accidents, nine property damage accidents and one rollover crash.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A winter weather advisory is in effect for the southern FOX6 viewing area beginning at 10:00 p.m. Sunday, February 3rd and running through 9:00 a.m. Monday -- with the chance of more snow falling in the area.
