Loaded gun discovered in restroom of Elmbrook Church

BROOKFIELD (WITI) -- The Brookfield Police Department is investigating an incident where a loaded gun was found in the bathroom of a church -- all while a program for children was in progress.A church worker discovered the gun in a stall in the women's restroom on the main floor of Elmbrook Church on Wednesday, March 26th.According to a police report, a female employee came out of the bathroom after finding the gun, and carried it to a volunteer worker at the front desk.

Crews find visible flames coming from Brookfield home

BROOKFIELD (WITI) -- Officials were called out to Scarlet Drive in Brookfield after a fire broke out there on Thursday evening, March 13th.Fire officials say the occupants of the home had evacuated when fire crews arrived.Firefighters found flames coming from the rear of the home when they arrived on scene.The fire was brought under control around 8:30 p.m.Five fire departments responded to the scene.

Fresh Thyme Farmers Market to open in Brookfield and Milwaukee

BROOKFIELD/MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Fresh Thyme Farmers Market plans to open stores in Brookfield and Milwaukee in 2015.They have not disclosed the exact locations, but the Milwaukee Business Journal has learned the Milwaukee location will be part of a project that includes apartments at East Pleasant and Water Street.The Phoenix-based grocery plans to open 60 new stores and create approximately 5,000 new jobs throughout the Midwest in the next five years.The stores emphasize locally-sourced produce sections.
