CONNECTICUT (WITI) -- A small town in Connecticut is looking to break a record held by people in Waukesha.People gathered this weekend in the hopes of landing a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most Christmas carolers in the same place at the same time.Waukesha holds the current record of 1,822 carolers -- that was set last winter.No word yet on whether the record has officially been broken.

Woman accused of bringing loaded gun into church restroom appears in court

WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- 67-year-old Susan Hitchler appeared in a Waukesha County courtroom on Monday, December 8th for her initial appearance on a charge of disorderly conduct.Hitchler is accused of bringing a loaded gun into a restroom at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield last March.An initial charge of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon was dropped against Hitchler this past June — but a criminal complaint filed on November 24th charges her with disorderly conduct.The Brookfield Police Department was called in to investigate after a loaded gun was found in the Elmbrook Church’s bathroom in March 2014 — while a children’s program was in progress.A church worker discovered the gun in a stall in the women’s restroom on the main floor of Elmbrook Church.A criminal complaint says a female employee came out of the bathroom after finding the gun, and carried it to a volunteer worker at the front desk.

New Berlin police want to speak with man following "suspicious incident" involving young girl

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- New Berlin police say they're looking to talk with a man following a "suspicious incident" that occurred on Tuesday, December 2nd shortly after 8:00 a.m.Police say they took a report of an attempted child abduction in the area of Salentine Drive and Calhoun Road in the city of New Berlin.During an investigation, police learned a suspicious man driving a silver and blue Honda Accord (last seen traveling eastbound on Salentine Drive from Calhoun Road) waved and slowed down, coming to a stop as he approached a six-year-old girl who was waiting for the school bus at the end of her driveway.Police say the girl initially told her mother the man asked her to "come here," but later told police the man didn't speak to her at all.The man drove away as the girl's mother exited the home, and as the school bus was approaching.Police say the man never opened his car door or exited his car.He's described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s with dark hair.

47-year-old Kenosha man arrested after pursuit that began in Waukesha ended near Miller Park

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials took a driver into custody in the Stadium Interchange after a vehicle crashed following a pursuit that began in Waukesha County.Waukesha County Sheriff's officials say shortly after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26th, they received a reckless driving complaint from a citizen traveling eastbound on I-94 in the area of State Highway 67.Just before 2:30 p.m., the vehicle described in the complaint was located on I-94 eastbound near County Highway T, and a traffic stop was initiated.

Waukesha will likely miss court-ordered 2018 deadline to secure new water source

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha is likely to miss its court-ordered 2018 deadline to secure a new source of drinking water.The city will likely ask a court to extend the deadline.Waukesha's current system of wells doesn't meet federal radium standards on days of heavy use.Waukesha officials plan to purchase water from Oak Creek, but that plan remains under review by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.If that is approved, the plan must be endorsed by a council of governors of states bordering the Great Lakes.CLICK HERE for more on this story via the Milwaukee Business Journal.

BUSTED! Three vehicles show up as search warrant is executed in Oconomowoc; four facing charges

WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- Four people now face criminal charges after a search warrant was executed on a suspected drug house in Oconomowoc.Those facing charges include: 32-year-old Chad Corrao of Oconomowoc, 39-year-old Ryan Fick of Watertown, 48-year-old John McMickle of Oconomowoc and 52-year-old Thomas Stephan of Oconomowoc.McMickle faces one felony count of manufacturing/delivering heroin (less than three grams) and a felony count of maintaining a drug trafficking place.Stephan faces a felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon, a misdemeanor count of possession of THC and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.Fick faces a felony count of possession of narcotic drugs, and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.Corrao faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.A criminal complaint filed in the case says on November 3rd, a controlled buy was set up involving a confidential informant.

RESCUED: Crews free man trapped in hole 30 feet underground in Waukesha County

WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- Fire crews from Waukesha, Pewaukee and Lisbon were called to rescue a man from a hole 30 feet underground.It happened at Weyer and Duplainville Road in Waukesha County.Authorities say while working to clear a hole underneath the road, a man became stuck in equipment.It took crews 30 minutes to free him.Crews dropped a basket to bring him out from the hole.
