MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 28-year-old Racine man was arrested after Mount Pleasant police found marijuana, cocaine, approximately $1,000 in cash and a semiautomatic handgun during a traffic stop.According to Mount Pleasant police, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Sunnyslope Drive Thursday afternoon, August 10th.The officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke with two occupants in the vehicle.

4 people arrested during high-risk traffic stop after shots fired incident in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Four people -- two from Illinois and two from Racine were arrested Tuesday night, August 8th amid a shots fired investigation in Mount Pleasant.It happened around 11:00 p.m. near Durand and Gates.According to police, after this shots fired incident, the victim followed the suspect vehicle, which was located on Washington Avenue near International Drive in Mount Pleasant -- and a high-risk traffic stop was performed.A 29-year-old and 26-year-old from Illinois were arrested, along with a 22-year-old and 21-year-old from Racine.Police say a handgun was found inside the suspect vehicle, and the victim's vehicle was damaged as a result of this incident.No one was hurt.The suspects are being held on charges of recklessly endangering safety, intimidation of a witness and disorderly conduct while armed.

Racine officials: Residents along Root River should be "vigilant and watchful" for next 24 to 36 hours

RACINE -- The Racine Police Department on Thursday, July 13th released new information on the potential for flooding within the city along the Root River Basin.Officials say the rainfall has not been as severe in the Root River Basin as along the Fox River Basin, and at this time, it is not anticipated that they will experience flooding along the Root River within the city.That being said, officials are still encouraging residents along the Root River to be vigilant and watchful for the next 24 to 36 hours, and if they should notice any significant and rapid rising of the river level, to report it to the Racine County Communications Center at (262) 886-2300.Citizens are also strongly cautioned to stay off and out of the Root River as the increased water volume and strong currents can quickly overcome even the strongest and most experienced swimmers and boaters.The City of Racine Departments will continue to work together to monitor conditions along the Root River and to provide timely updates should conditions change.

Just released from prison, Milwaukee man arrested for 10th OWI

CALEDONIA -- A 66-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested by Caledonia police on Saturday, June 24th for a 10th offense operating while intoxicated (OWI).David Broomfield faces one count of OWI, 10th and subsequent offense, and one count of operating a motor vehicle while revoked.A criminal complaint notes OWI convictions dating back to 1995.That complaint says on June 24th, a Caledonia police officer conducted a traffic stop on County Highway V near 7 1/2 Mile Road.
