CALEDONIA/MOUNT PLEASANT -- Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave on Thursday, May 26th issued a "declaration of emergency" in Racine County due to severe bluff erosion happening along Lake Michigan in Caledonia and Mount Pleasant.According to Delagrave, because of the increase in water levels on Lake Michigan, and the combination of wave action and unstable bluffs, the erosion of the bluffs has accelerated at an unprecedented rate.“We are concerned the homes as well as public utilities and infrastructure will fall victim to Lake Michigan in coming days and weeks.

Police: Good Samaritans jump into action, rescue four people after boat capsized on Lake Michigan

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say four people were rescued by Good Samaritans Sunday morning, May 15th when their boat began to take on water on Lake Michigan.Police were alerted to a call of a capsized boat on Lake Michigan around 7:45 a.m.Two men and two juvenile females went into the water after their boat capsized.Each boater was rescued by other boaters in the area.No one was hurt.

Racine County Sheriff's Office's Water Patrol called out to Lake Michigan for vessel taking on water

RACINE COUNTY -- The Racine County Sheriff's Office's Water Patrol was called out to Lake Michigan Saturday, September 5th for a 41-foot vessel that was taking on water.It happened around 6:00 p.m.Racine County Sheriff's officials say the Water Patrol received a distress call over the marine band radio for a 41-foot vessel on Lake Michigan that was taking on water.The caller stated he was north of the Wind Point Lighthouse, approximately four miles off shore, and taking on water from an unknown location faster than it could be pumped out.The operator advised he was headed to shore to beach the boat.The Sheriff's Office's Water Patrol responded to the scene and found the vessel beached.
