Wisconsin National Guard collect over 90K specimens at mobile COVID-19 testing sites

MILWAUKEE -- Wisconsin National Guard specimen collection teams collected over 3,300 specimens June 1 -- and its cumulative total collected for COVID-19 testing topped 92,000 as 25 teams continue to operate across Wisconsin supporting local health departments and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services with COVID-19 testing efforts.According to a press release, the teams, comprised of nearly 600 Citizen Soldiers and Airmen in total, established mobile testing sites at locations ranging from correctional facilities and health clinics, to private businesses, and community-based testing sites.After collecting the specimens at each site, Wisconsin National Guard troops send the test kits to a lab for analysis, and individual citizens receive their results via a phone call from their local health department or a state call center within three-to-seven days following the test.A number of specimen collection sites have ongoing operations including:

Fare collection resumes for MCTS riders at 4 a.m. Monday, June 1

MILWAUKEE -- Fare collection will resume Monday, June 1 on all Milwaukee County Transit System buses.Riders were not charged for two months during the coronavirus pandemic.In addition to fare collection resuming, all riders will be asked to enter at the front of the bus -- with social distancing rules still in effect.Only 10 people will be allowed on a bus at a time -- and riders are asked to wear masks.MCTS officials said it's been too difficult to operate without collecting money from passengers."We're collecting fares again," said Kristina Hoffman with MCTS. Health officials: 45 residents test positive for COVID-19 at Kenosha County long-term care facility

KENOSHA COUNTY -- Health officials in Kenosha County confirmed in a news release on Saturday, May 30 that 45 residents of a long-term care facility in the county have tested positive for COVID-19.The cases were identified at Kenosha Estates Living and Care Center, which health officials described as a "skilled nursing facility" near 18th Avenue and 60th Street in Kenosha.The cases have emerged since mid-May and many of the affected residents have underlying health conditions, health officials said.
