MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Families looking for a new school for the fall can meet staff and learn about the programs available at more than 100 schools Saturday, February 1st at Milwaukee Public Schools’ new All-School Enrollment Fair.The fair will showcase school options for students from age 3 through high school graduation that families won’t find anywhere else in the community, including strong neighborhood schools, arts specialty schools, Career and Technical Education (CTE) schools, International Baccalaureate schools, language immersion schools and Montessori schools.Representatives of key MPS programs and services including bilingual education, College and Career Readiness, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, special education and transportation will also be available for families.The All-School Enrollment Fair is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, February 1 at MPS’ Milwaukee High School of the Arts, 2300 W.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — AT&T and the NEA Foundation are teaming up to increase low-income students’ interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education by supporting Milwaukee Public Schools’ Urban Schools Aquaponics initiative through a two-year contribution that includes $98,000 that will directly impact the program.The goal: provide more students with the skills and knowledge they’ll need for 21st century jobs and develop curriculum and instructional content that educators can use to build similar programs nationwide.“Projects like these empower educators to develop and use proven practices to deliver rigorous, engaging learning experiences that we know excite and interest underrepresented student groups in STEM,” said Harriet Sanford, president and CEO of the NEA Foundation.“In order to keep our country’s economic growth and innovation engine moving, it’s critical that we develop STEM skills in our young people,” said Scott T.

Two suspects sought in armed robbery on Marquette campus
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Marquette Department of Public Safety officials and Milwaukee police are seeking the individuals responsible for an armed robbery that took place on Monday night, January 27th.It happened just after 8:00 p.m. in the 1800 block of Wisconsin Avenue.The victim, a Marquette student, was approached by a male suspect who showed a weapon, demanded property and then demanded the student's vehicle.The suspect fled in the student's black Lexus (Florida plates F06-5JG) -- along with a second suspect.The Marquette student was not injured and did not seek medical treatment.One suspect is described as a black man, 20-30 years old, 6'1" tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds with a dark-colored bandanna covering his face.The second suspect's description is unknown.Anyone with information is asked to contact Milwaukee police.
