MADISON — A consultant will be paid up to $900,000 to conduct a two-year study at the University of Wisconsin to reclassify and set compensation for thousands of jobs.The Title and Total Compensation Study is collaboration between the UW-Madison and the UW System, The Capital Times reported .The two entities are splitting the cost of New York-based consultant Mercer, said Stephanie Marquis, a UW System spokeswoman."It is needed," said Kevin Niemi, a UW-Madison academic staff member and outreach program manager. MADISON — The University of Wisconsin-Madison has announced plans to give faculty and staff a 4 percent pay increase over the next year.The Wisconsin State Journal reports that a 2 percent pay raise would occur in July followed by another 2 percent increase January 2019.The university says employees must have started in their current positions by Jan. 8, be meeting performance expectations and must complete campus sexual harassment training to qualify for the raise.University Chancellor Rebecca Blank says the raises will help the school keep talented employees.The university says it would be the first time since 2015 that its employees have gotten across-the-board raises.The state Legislature's Joint Committee on Employment Relations must formally approve the plan before it can take effect.
