WIS 59/US 18 pavement replacement project in Waukesha County

Waukesha County drivers take note. Work is set to resume the week of March 16 along WIS 59/US 18 (Les Paul Parkway), between Sunset Drive and Arcadian Drive.

What we know:

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) says the following work will be tackled: 

  • Replace pavement of the southbound lanes
  • Traffic flow improvements, including:Extend turn lanes at Sunset Drive, Racine Avenue, and Broadway StreetAdd auxiliary lane from Racine Avenue to Broadway Street
  • Extend turn lanes at Sunset Drive, Racine Avenue, and Broadway Street
  • Add auxiliary lane from Racine Avenue to Broadway Street
  • Intersection improvements in multiple locations along corridor
  • Remove/repair guardrail
  • Replace storm sewer

A news release says traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes with construction activities moving to the southbound lanes.

Traffic along WIS 59/US 18 will be maintained in both directions with access to local businesses and residences.

The New Berlin Trail will remain closed during 2026 construction.

Construction on this project is scheduled for completion by late fall 2026. All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
