AURORA, Colo. — A car drove through a crowd and a protester was shot in the suburban Denver suburb of Aurora during demonstrations against racial injustice.The Aurora Police Department said on Twitter that protesters were walking on Interstate 225 Saturday when a vehicle drove through.Police said a protester fired a weapon, striking at least one person who was taken to a hospital in stable condition.Authorities said the vehicle was towed and they are investigating.

DENVER -- A teen who told authorities that he launched a fatal shooting attack on his suburban Denver school last year because he wanted them to experience trauma like that he had experienced was sentenced on Friday to life in prison with the possibility of parole after about two decades behind bars.Alec McKinney apologized to the parents of Kendrick Castillo, who was killed as he tried to stop the attack at STEM School Highlands Ranch, and to the other students wounded as well as traumatized by the attack.“I will never repeat these actions ever again because the harm I caused is truly too much for anyone to bear,” he said as he seemed to choke back tears and his voice cracked.McKinney, 17, is the younger of the two students charged in the May 7, 2019, shooting.

(AP) — A judge has released another 100 people from jury selection in the Colorado theater shooting trial as the difficult task of finding people to decide the fate of gunman James Holmes ended its third day.An unprecedented 9,000 possible jurors were initially summoned, and it's likely to take months to whittle that number down to 12 jurors and 12 alternates.District Attorney George Brauchler on Thursday, January 22nd urged Judge Carlos Samour not to reveal why the judge released 88 jurors.Brauchler warned against providing a roadmap that other people could use to get out of jury service.Samour also released at least 12 other people, including a woman who feared the lengthy trial would aggravate her panic attacks.Samour has released at least 120 potential jurors to date.CLICK HERE for further coverage of this case via FOX6Now.com.

BAKERVILLE, Colo. (AP) — A man who was snowshoeing up a central Colorado mountain died after getting hit by an avalanche.The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office says two men and a woman set out to go snowshoeing on Wednesday.Authorities say about 12,000 feet up the trail, a woman crossed a potential avalanche zone and when she turned around, she saw one of the men get caught in an avalanche.The buried victim had an avalanche beacon.
