Packers, Sargento raise $91,500 for Hunger Task Force, Paul's Pantry
GREEN BAY (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers and Sargento raised a total of $91,500 during the 2013 season for the “Touchdowns for Charity” program to benefit the Wisconsin Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee County and Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay.During the regular season, Sargento donated $1,000 to the Wisconsin Hunger Task Force and $500 to Paul’s Pantry for each touchdown scored.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It's crunch time for volunteers at the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee -- working to get those holiday meals ready for those in need."You know they’re gonna have a great Christmas, and you know that they’re gonna eat that whole week because of the generosity of one person," Hunger Task Force Executive Director Sherrie Tussler said.The Hunger Task Force is filling 800 bins with more than $120 worth of food, including fresh fruits and vegetables, stuffing and candy canes."If we can pitch in a little bit and help people out, I think it's a good idea," Tussler said.Lauren Zerili was one of about 100 volunteers on Sunday, December 15th."It's not anything that nobody wants.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- On Sunday morning, November 24th, folks were in line at Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee to help prepare Thanksgiving meals for those in need.Hunger Task Force Director Sherrie Tussler says 750 "golden tickets" were mailed to those in need, and on Sunday, folks were able to redeem the tickets for turkeys!"What we've decided to do, because we had some extra turkeys, was distribute them to seniors who normally just get a box of government commodity foods every month, and so we're gonna throw down that turkey for them," Tussler said.Meanwhile, inside an adjacent warehouse, folks were busy filling bins with food, which will be collected by the Hunger Task Force's 60 food pantries for distribution to clients."It's got everything in it that it would take to make a Thanksgiving meal or more.
