Off-duty Racine Co. Sheriff's deputy shoots and kills dog that was attacking his wife

RACINE COUNTY -- An off-duty Racine County Sheriff's deputy on Sunday afternoon, March 6th shot and killed a dog that attacked his dog and his wife.It happened around 2:45 p.m. near the Union Grove Water Treatment Plant.The off-duty deputy indicated he was on a walking path with his wife and a small "lap dog" near the water treatment plant when a large white dog came out of a wooded area -- charging towards the couple.The deputy said his wife picked up their dog and the unrestrained white dog attacked her and the dog she was holding.The deputy said he feared for the safety of his wife and shot the attacking dog, which ran away and was later found dead.The deputy's wife was treated for minor injuries at the scene.The incident remains under investigation.

Man arrested following drug bust in Kenosha; heroin linked to overdose victims

KENOSHA -- Agents from the Racine County Metro Drug Unit, the Kenosha Drug Operations Group and D.E.A Milwaukee have arrested a significant local drug dealer.Investigating officers served a search warrant at a residence near 91st Street and 15th Avenue and in Kenosha on Monday, December 21st.

Two people hurt, one seriously, after grain truck and pickup truck collided in Burlington

BURLINGTON -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say one person was seriously injured in a crash involving a grain truck and trailer and a pickup truck on Monday afternoon, November 16th.It happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. on State Highway 11 near Highway J in Burlington.Upon the arrival of deputies, it was discovered that the operators of both vehicles were hurt -- and one was partially trapped.The operator of the pickup truck was seriously hurt.That person was extricated from the truck, and taken to the hospital via Flight for Life.The operator of the grain truck was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

72-year-old man dies at the hospital after crash involving two vehicles in Racine County

RACINE COUNTY -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say a 72-year-old man died at the hospital following a crash on County Highway A on Tuesday morning, November 10th.It happened just before 7:30 a.m. on County Highway A at 55th Drive in the Town of Yorkville.Deputies found the crash involved two vehicles.Three people were involved in the crash -- a driver and passenger in one vehicle, and a driver in another.All three people were taken to the hospital.A 72-year-old man later died while being treated at the hospital.

Undercover sex sting: Man thinks he's meeting up with 15-year-old girl; but instead, he's arrested

RACINE COUNTY -- Racine County Sheriff's investigators were able to arrest a 52-year-old Illinois man during an undercover sex sting operation on Thursday, October 22nd.Sheriff's officials say the man was engaging in sexually explicit conversations with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl.Through the course of the operation, the man from Plainfield, Illinois made arrangements to meet with the girl in order to engage in sexual activity.The man traveled to a pre-designated location, where he believed he'd be meeting the girl, and was subsequently taken into custody by Sheriff’s investigators. "I'm very proud of the commitment and hard work my investigative team brings to these very intense and challenging cases.

Racine County Sheriff's Office: 67-year-old man killed in single-vehicle rollover crash in Burlington

BURLINGTON -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say one person was killed in a crash that occurred on State Highway 36 in the Town of Burlington on Monday, October 19th.The rollover crash happened around 11:30 a.m. on State Highway 36 south of Yahnke Road.Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found a 2004 Ford Explorer on the west side of Highway 36 with extensive damage.The 67-year-old man who was the lone occupant of the vehicle was ejected, and pronounced dead at the scene.An initial investigation has revealed the vehicle was southbound on Highway 36 at a high rate of speed -- based upon witness statements.

Deputies find corn stalks hanging from school bus; driver cited for OWI, accused of driving off road

TOWN OF WATERFORD -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say a school bus driver is facing several citations, including OWI first offense following an incident on Tuesday afternoon, October 6th.It happened around 2:15 p.m. in the Town of Waterford.At that time, the Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call indicating a school bus drove off the roadway into a cornfield and then came back out onto the road and continued driving on Buena Park Road.The Racine County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched and deputies learned that the bus was owned by S & J Bus Services Inc.

Busted: 31-year-old man now in custody in connection with armed robberies at Racine Co. libraries

RACINE COUNTY -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say an arrest has been made in connection with August armed robberies at two libraries.Shortly before noon on August 6th, Sheriff's officials were dispatched to an armed robbery that occurred at the Village of Rochester Library.Approximately 15 minutes after the initial call, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted robbery at the Village of Waterford Library.Investigators and responding deputies immediately determined that the Waterford and Rochester incidents were related and launched a full-scale investigation into the matter.Now, we've learned a 31-year-old man has been taken into custody for these crimes.On Wednesday, September 30th, a search warrant was executed at the man's home in Burlington, and he was taken in to custody.He is currently being held on several felony and misdemeanor charges related to the incidents mentioned above.He is also currently being held on a probation hold from the Wisconsin DOC.

Two hurt following single-vehicle crash in Town of Yorkville, alcohol appears to be factor

RACINE COUNTY -- The Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call of an accident that occurred at the intersection of STH 11 and 67th Drive in the Town of Yorkville in Racine County Wednesday night, September 23rd.Racine County Deputies responded and found that this was a single-car accident and there were two occupants in the car.
