MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say a 24-year-old man has been charged with two counts of armed robbery after robbing two video game stores in two weeks.The first robbery occurred on Wednesday, September 2nd when Devonne Ball, armed with a gun, walked into the Game Stop near Capitol and Richards St, approached an employee and demanded money.

Police: 14-year-old boy shot, injured while walking down the street in broad daylight

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say a 14-year-old boy was shot and injured in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon, September 23rd.It happened around noon, near 45th and Center.Police say the boy was shot by an unknown suspect in a passing vehicle as he was walking down the street.The boy was taken to the hospital, and he is expected to survive.MPD continues to seek a motive and search for suspects in this case.

Police: August death of 90-year-old Earl Hall now ruled a homicide; amended charges coming soon

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say an aggravated battery incident that led to the death of a 90-year-old man is now being investigated as a homicide.Earl Hall was found severely injured following the aggravated battery that police say happened in a home near 39th and Green Tree Road early on July 5th -- around 4:30 a.m.Hall died just over one month later, on August 6th.A 23-year-old woman was arrested at the scene of the alleged crime.Shameka Hill has been charged with aggravated battery to the elderly, and she now may face more serious charges.A criminal complaint charging her with aggravated battery indicates she called 911 on the morning of July 5th -- telling the dispatcher her 90-year-old grandfather had chased her with a knife, and that she beat him up, and he was on the floor, bleeding.MFD was dispatched to the scene, and Earl Hall was taken to the hospital.Police spoke with Hill, who indicated around 3:00 a.m., she went out to her vehicle to retrieve her phone charger.

Justice Dept. to help study use of body cameras in three U.S. cities, including Milwaukee

WASHINGTON – As part of President Obama’s commitment to building trust and transparency between law enforcement and the communities they serve, Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday, September 21st announced that the Justice Department has awarded grants totaling more than $23.2 million to 73 local and tribal agencies in 32 states to expand the use of body-worn cameras and explore their impact.The body-worn camera pilot program announced in May 2015 includes $19.3 million to purchase body-worn cameras, $2 million for training and technical assistance and $1.9 million to examine the impact of their use.The grants, awarded by the department’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP), build on President Obama’s proposal to purchase 50,000 body-worn cameras for law enforcement agencies within three years.“This vital pilot program is designed to assist local jurisdictions that are interested in exploring and expanding the use of body-worn cameras in order to enhance transparency, accountability and credibility,” said Attorney General Lynch.  “The impact of body-worn cameras touches on a range of outcomes that build upon efforts to mend the fabric of trust, respect and common purpose that all communities need to thrive.”The grants, which require a 50/50 in-kind or cash match, can be used to purchase equipment and require that applicants establish a strong implementation plan and a robust training policy before purchasing cameras.

MILWAUKEE -- The FBI announced on Thursday, September 17th that it is offering a $20,000 reward for the capture of two suspects believed to be responsible for the armed robberies of two banks in Milwaukee.On Friday, July 3rd two unidentified suspects robbed the BMO Harris Bank near 13th and Oklahoma on Milwaukee's south side just after the bank opened.The suspects are described as males, black, similar in age, weight and height, slender build, 18-24 years of age, approximately 180-190 lbs, 5'9" to 5'11" tall.
