MILWAUKEE -- A gas main leak near 7th and National in Milwaukee, required 30 people to evacuate from nearby businesses on Saturday, January 13th.According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the incident happened shortly after 3 p.m.Officials say the line was struck during a deconstruction of a building in the area.

Milwaukee firefighters respond to duplex fire near 77th and Thurston

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee officials responded to a fire near 77th and Thurston Friday night, January 12th.According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the fire was in a two-story wood framed duplex.All residents were able to evacuate safely before fire crews arrived.There were no injuries.Officials do not believe the building was a total loss and are still waiting for damage estimates.The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Suspicious fire: Tenant alerted in home near 29th and Atkinson by cat who began clawing him

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee Fire Department are investigating a fire they're calling suspicious in nature that happened at a home near 29th and Glendale on Christmas Day Monday, December 25th.It happened around 11:00 a.m. and was contained to one room in the home.It caused $50,000 in damage to the structure, and $10,000 in damage to contents.No one was hurt.

2 people taken to hospital following vehicle accident near 1st and North

MILWAUKEE -- Two people were sent to the hospital following a car accident near 1st and North early Sunday morning, December 24th.Fire officials said the two people were victims of a t-bone accident at a high rate of speed around 3:30 a.m..One victim had to be extricated from a vehicle and two victims ended up being taken to the hospital.

Kitchen fire being investigated near Astor and Brady Streets

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee officials responded to a kitchen fire that happened near North Astor and Brady Streets.The call to officials came in around 6:30 p.m.According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the fire was contained to the one-unit kitchen.

Honor Guard raises ladder, flies flag as MFD lieutenant who died of cancer laid to rest

MILWAUKEE -- A funeral was held Wednesday, December 13th for a Milwaukee Fire Department lieutenant who passed away following a 5-year battle with cancer.FOX6 News ran a story about Kristin Ciganek after she was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer.Her diagnosis inspired MFD to apply for a grant for employee physicals and blood work cancer screenings, which it received.On Wednesday night, the Honor Guard raised two ladders and flew the American flag in Ciganek's honor.She was a mother of three.
