MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- As Harley-Davidson's 110th anniversary celebration kicked off on Thursday, August 29th, somewhere in Milwaukee, in a secret room, hundreds of first responders stood by, waiting.In case there's a crisis, a secret team has been assembled in what some might call "The Bat Cave," but for security reasons, no one will disclose where it's located."It's police, it's fire, it's federal, it's hospital, it's Health Department," Lisa Hass-Peters, RN and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin said.And it's nothing new."We've done this before.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- During Harley-Davidson's kickoff of its 110th anniversary celebration at Henry Maier Festival Park on Thursday, August 29th, FOX6 News spotted a creature drawing more attention than some of the bikes and bikers themselves -- a service dog, appropriately named "Milwaukee."Many found themselves taking a detour from checking out the bikes and talking with the bikers to admire what comes with four paws.The chihuahua goes by "Millie" for short, and it wasn't long before Mille's mom, Kelly Miscichoski was greeted for another photo shoot."I don't get too far and they take pictures of her," Miscichoski said.Miscichoski once called Wisconsin home, but now lives and rides in Tennessee with her dog.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Bikers flooded Henry Maier Festival Park on Thursday for the kickoff of Harley-Davidson's 110th anniversary celebration -- and folks were donating money to charity through a special check-in, where bikers could drop off items."We are checking helmets, so that way people don’t have to carry them around, and we’re accepting donations for Habitat For Humanity, so that we can build more homes for needy, deserving, hard-working, Milwaukee families," Karen VanHoof said.On Thursday, during the kickoff of the big 110th anniversary celebration, VanHoof was representing Habitat for Humanity.The check-in, which can also involve Harley-Davidson leathers is free, but donations are encouraged."It’s in a secure location.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The evolving face of the Harley-Davidson rider now includes more women than ever -- and they're changing the perception of a "biker chick."From the moment they hit the road, with the wind at their backs and their hair flowing free, their minds are at ease."It makes my heart feel good," Brenda Kuhl said."You get a lot of time to think and soul search," Amy Price said."It's as close to flying as you'll ever get," Anne Zube said."To me, it's just a sense of freedom," Amy Price said.These women are part of a group called "Stilettos on Steel.""This is the face of a female rider," Zube, the CEO of Stilettos on Steel told FOX6 News.Tired of sitting on the back of a bike, they hopped on board their own bikes."It`s now women taking the handlebars, getting behind it, getting out of the passenger seat and really taking control of their destiny," Zube said.The group consists of women from all walks of life."We have business owners, homemakers, grandmothers, widowers.
