WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- 43-year-old Kenneth Harris of Milwaukee has been charged with substantial battery for an incident in which he allegedly beat a West Allis woman on Tuesday, March 12th.The criminal complaint in the case says Harris went over to the woman's home, and the two left the home together -- walking toward a bus stop.The criminal complaint says Harris then struck the woman to her face with a closed fist, causing her to fall to the ground.

War Memorial Center hosts Job Fair for Veterans

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- More than 70 employers were on hand Thursday, March 7th for a job fair for veterans.The Milwaukee Veterans Affairs Medical Center's biannual job fair was at the Milwaukee War Memorial.They moved to a bigger location to accommodate more employers and job seekers.Miller Coors and We Energies were just a couple of the employers looking to fill jobs.Many job seekers saw this job fair as a great first step in getting back to work."A lot of good companies that are out here.

Home Depot employees honored for work with veterans

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Some Home Depot employees were honored on Wednesday, February 13th for what they are doing outside of work.At a ceremony at an area store, officials from the Center for Veterans Issues and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett recognized the company for its work with Milwaukee veterans.The CVI supports the returning soldiers with benefits and housing to help them transition back to everyday life -- and those houses occasionally need maintenance."Because we have these facilities, they need maintenance on a continuous basis, and Home Depot stepped forward to assist us with not only the repair of some facilities, but the provision of materials to do the repair work," Robert Cocroft with CVI said.These workers donated more than 1,000 man hours helping at events at the CVI facilities.
