Amazon to open retail pickup location at UW-Madison this fall

MADISON -- Starting in the fall of 2016, students at UW-Madison won't have to worry about Amazon deliveries arriving while they're at class or studying.The university has reached an agreement with Amazon, allowing the company to set up a brick and mortar pickup location on campus -- allowing students, faculty and staff to receive their purchases in one location.That location will be in the "red gym," and is set to open November 1st.CLICK HERE for more on this story via the Milwaukee Business Journal.

UWM-MPS teacher program receives $2.4 million grant

MILWAUKEE -- The National Science Foundation has awarded a $2.4 million grant to UW-Milwaukee and Milwaukee Public Schools.The money will be used to improve math and science programs in Milwaukee's public high schools.Twenty-five MPS teachers will be trained in personalized professional development and classroom-based research.Those teachers will then work with UWM faculty and MPS district leaders to analyze their classroom practices and lead development workshops for other teachers across the state.CLICK HERE for more on this story via the Milwaukee Business Journal.

UWM named one of the nation's best schools for LGBTQ students

MILWAUKEE -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named one of the nation's best schools for LGBTQ students.UWM received 4.5 out of 5 stars.The rating comes from "Campus Pride," a leading non-profit organization that tracks policies, programs and practices across hundreds of national schools.The "Campus Pride" director said it is important that schools today have the support and resources for LGBTQ students to succeed.The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay also made it into the "Top 30" list.
