Hollywood arrived in Milwaukee as Hugh Jackman attended the hometown premiere of "Song Sung Blue" at the Oriental Theatre on Tuesday, Dec. 2, a film inspired by a Milwaukee love story and a local Neil Diamond cover band.
MILWAUKEE - Hollywood made its way to Milwaukee on Tuesday, Dec. 2, starting with frozen custard earlier in the day and ending with the hometown premiere of "Song Sung Blue."

Actor Hugh Jackman joined the movie’s Milwaukee debut at the Oriental Theatre on Tuesday night. People viewed the film for the first time during the invite-only event, with the theater packed for the special screening.
Fans gathered outside the Oriental Theatre, cheering as they waited to catch a glimpse of Jackman.

The moment drew loud applause as the star walked into the historic Milwaukee venue.
The film is based on Milwaukee’s own Lightning and Thunder, a Neil Diamond cover band, and depicts the real-life love story of Claire and Mike Sardina.
Jackman portrays Mike in the movie, opposite Kate Hudson.

But coming here, bringing it here and having the family here, the community […] there’s something about it that is just so fulfilling."

Gino Salomone talks about his connection to Lightning and Thunder, the duo portrayed in the new Hugh Jackman movie, "Song Sung Blue."
"The story itself is such an incredible underdog love story. These people show up for each other no matter what life throws at them. Their resilience and their love of music and their need to play and entertain and their way of hanging in together," Jackman said. "It touched me in a way that I thought we need to make more movies like this. Why aren’t there more movies like this? It means a lot."
