MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police are warning homeowners not to let anyone into their homes that they do not know after a burglary occurred Thursday, February 8th.The incident happened at a home on County Line Road (Highway KR) at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.The homeowner says a man came into the house advising that he was a contractor working for Foxconn and had hit a water pipe.

Dog named Charlie rescued from frigid pond after escaping kennel, apparently letting himself out of house

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The dog that was rescued from the frigid waters of a pond near Island Club North in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, Jan. 13 was reunited with his owners.The rescue happened on Saturday afternoon around 3:40 p.m.The South Shore Fire Department arrived on scene and saw a large golden Labrador struggling to keep its head above the surface of the water.

Racine man accused of swinging dog by leash against door, choking it during fight with girlfriend

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 48-year-old pedestrian from Racine suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night, December 21st.It happened around 8:50 p.m. near the intersection of STH 31  and STH 20.Witnesses reported that the vehicle faced a green light while traveling northbound on STH 31.

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Four people -- two from Illinois and two from Racine were arrested Tuesday night, August 8th amid a shots fired investigation in Mount Pleasant.It happened around 11:00 p.m. near Durand and Gates.According to police, after this shots fired incident, the victim followed the suspect vehicle, which was located on Washington Avenue near International Drive in Mount Pleasant -- and a high-risk traffic stop was performed.A 29-year-old and 26-year-old from Illinois were arrested, along with a 22-year-old and 21-year-old from Racine.Police say a handgun was found inside the suspect vehicle, and the victim's vehicle was damaged as a result of this incident.No one was hurt.The suspects are being held on charges of recklessly endangering safety, intimidation of a witness and disorderly conduct while armed.
