MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Four Southwest Airlines pilots visited fourth and fifth graders from Longfellow Public School on Thursday, February 13th to show them just what they do at their jobs on a daily basis.Southwest's Adopt-a-Pilot program gets kids out of the classroom and into the cockpit where pilots help guide the children in a flight simulator.

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- A rolling closure along I-94 in Waukesha County beginning at 10 p.m. Wednesday night, January 29th  to mill down the ‘bumps’ that have formed on bridge overpasses."There's a number of locations along that stretch and we're gonna mill them all down tonight in the overnight hours," said Michael Pyritz, the DOT's Communications Manager.The DOT is focusing on three parts of I-94 in Waukesha County.

Southwest flight from Milwaukee to Baltimore diverted to Indiana

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned a plane that left Mitchell International Airport Tuesday, January 28th was diverted due to a mechanical problem.The Southwest Airlines Flight (4202) was headed to Baltimore with 65 customers and a crew of five.A Southwest Airlines spokesman says on the climb out of Milwaukee, there was a pressurization issue discovered by the crew.The flight crew decided to divert to South Bend, Indiana, and the flight was able to land safely.Customers deplaned and were taken safely to the terminal at South Bend.Southwest Airlines ordered a new aircraft be brought to South Bend so passengers can continue to Baltimore.An inspection of the initial aircraft is planned to correct the issue and make sure the plane is operating properly before it returns to service.

Pilot identifies possible problem on flight scheduled to land at Mitchell

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned a U.S. Airways flight was in the process of landing at General Mitchell International Airport on Monday evening when a pilot on board identified a routine mechanical issue and declared an emergency as a precaution.A Mitchell Airport spokeswoman says it happened around 7:45 p.m. Monday.An airport spokeswoman says a possible problem was identified on the plane, and the flight landed safely and taxied to the gate.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) announced Thursday, January 2nd that Route 31 (State – Highland) will detour due to a long term closure of Watertown Plank Road between 92nd Street and Innovation Drive/Swan Boulevard.To help ensure public safety, accessibility and mobility during the project, pedestrians will receive assistance to ride the bus free of charge in the detour area through a partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Milwaukee County Department of Transportation.

Delta flight from Minn. to Milw. has mechanical issue at Mitchell Intl.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A spokesperson with Mitchell International Airport on Wednesday evening, January 1st, said the airport was dealing with a disabled plane.The spokesperson said the incident involved a Delta flight from Minneapolis to Milwaukee.The plane landed safely on the north/south runway just before 5:00 p.m.This was the only runway open at the airport due to the continued snowfall.Once on the ground, the airport spokesperson says the plane had a mechanical issue and was taken to the terminal by shuttle buses.The airport's maintenance crew was working to plow the east/west runway so it could be opened.The airfield reopened minutes before 6:00 p.m.Nan Hemming was one of the travelers watching the clock at Mitchell on Wednesday."It's a mess.
