MPD: 28-year-old man suffers injuries after roofing materials ignite at strip mall

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a fire that occurred at 60th and Forest Home Avenue on the city's southwest side on Wednesday, June 24.Contractors were working on a roof at strip mall around 9 a.m. -- and were heating up roofing materials that subsequently ignited.A 28-year-old man suffered moderate injuries.

Police: 2 skateboarders, age 12, struck by separate vehicles near 54th and Center

MILWAUKEE -- Two 12-year-olds riding skateboards were struck by separate vehicles on Monday night, May 25 near 54th Street and Center Street.It happened shortly before 10 p.m.Police said the initial skateboarder "made a sudden movement into to traffic," and was struck by a vehicle -- suffering injuries that were not life-threatening.The driver, a 27-year-old woman, was cited for not having a license.Meanwhile, police said another 12-year-old "also made a sudden movement into traffic," and was struck by a different vehicle -- suffering injuries that were not life-threatening.The driver of that vehicle was not cited.

Milwaukee police: 58-year-old woman suffers serious injuries in apartment fire

MILWAUKEE -- A 58-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in an apartment building fire late on Sunday, May 24.The fire broke out shortly after 11 p.m. at a building near 19th Street and Juneau Avenue in Milwaukee.The victim was taken to a hospital -- and is expected to survive.Officials said in a news release that the fire does not appear to be suspicious -- and is believed to have been caused by a cigarette.
