MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Hundreds of veterans spent their day at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center on Monday, September 15th -- it was the second year of the “Connecting Aging Veterans to their Benefits" fair.Dozens of organizations set up booths throughout the building, each with information on different benefits or programs available to veterans.

RACINE (WITI) -- The fifth annual Rock for Vets was held Saturday, April 19th at the Civic Centre Memorial Hall with hopes to raise $20,000 to support veterans.The event features eight different bands, 50/50 raffles, and a raffle to win a Miller Park suite to see a Brewers game.“You get the bands, you get their groupies, you get all the veterans, you get everybody down here,” said attendee Debre Dell.Rock for Vets is sponsored by Bikers Helping Veterans and the Wisconsin Veterans Motorcycle Club.

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) Secretary John Scocos and Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Secretary Mark Gottlieb on Monday, November 11th announced that starting on December 2, 2013, veterans may voluntarily request through the WisDOT a veteran identifier on their Wisconsin driver’s license or state issued identification card.“It is fitting that on Veterans Day, WDVA and WisDOT announce they are beginning to implement the veteran identifier on driver’s licenses,” Governor Walker said. “Our veterans have sacrificed so much for the good of our country and it is only right that we ease this burden of proof.”Veterans who choose to get the identifier must first verify they are eligible before they apply for a new card.
