Dig deeper:

Sommerhauser said, while most other states allow sports betting online and in retail settings, Wisconsin only allows it on native tribal lands – primarily in the casinos that tribes own or operate.

At Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Milwaukee, this year marks the first time its sportsbook will be open for people to wager on the Super Bowl.

"We know that the majority of people that bet on sports do so responsibly," Sommerhauser said.

The other side:

Sommerhauser warns that sports betting can be a slippery slope for some people.

"There's a handful of people where it negatively impacts, that their financial situation can be really dire," he said.

A good reminder that you don't need money on the game to enjoy the game. The AGA said, if you plan to bet, have a plan. That includes following a budget and only betting within your means.
