WAUWATOSA, Wis. - Two separate car crashes involving Wauwatosa police officers occurred on Sunday, Dec. 7.
Center and Mayfair
What we know:
Around 6 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for not displaying license plates. During the traffic stop, a ride-share vehicle rear-ended the squad car. As a result of the crash, the ride-share vehicle rolled onto its side as it came to a stop.
The two passengers of the ride-share vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the ride-share vehicle did not report any injuries.

The officer did not report any injuries. The squad car sustained significant damage.
121st and Bluemound
What we know:
Around 6:55 p.m., officers responded to the area of 121st and Bluemound for a single-vehicle crash, where a car hit a light pole in the median.
During the investigation, officers arrested the driver for driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
Around 7:25 p.m., as the officers were helping the subject into the back of the squad car, a passing vehicle hit one of the officers and the subject.
The subject complained of an ankle injury and was taken to the hospital.
The officer was taken to the hospital for evaluation and was released.

None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
It appears that the driver of the striking vehicle was distracted, and did not see the emergency vehicles in time to safely move over.
What's next:
Both crashes remain under investigation.
