Three robbery suspects in custody after police pursuit of stolen vehicle leads to collision

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police arrested three robbery suspects who led police on a chase in a stolen SUV on Monday, January 19th. That chase ended with a collision at the intersection of Santa Monica and Hampton. Police initially said a fourth suspect was on the loose -- but said Tuesday there were only three suspects.

Officials say the suspects robbed a 16-year-old Milwaukee girl of her cell phone near 38th and Chambers around 2:45 p.m. The police pursuit ended when the white SUV, reported stolen in Milwaukee on January 16th, crashed into a red car.

Two juvenile suspects and one adult suspect were arrested.

"You could see police kind of running across the street, but when I came in here, I saw a 20-year-old boy run from the side of my house, into the front lawn, kinda stop right here," Heidi Stein said.

Stein believes the young man is one of the three pursued by Milwaukee police.

A gas station clerk says he saw the suspects run off -- and two were confronted by a tow truck driver who told them to stop.

The clerk says the suspects ran into a nearby subdivision.

Heidi Stein says a tow truck pulled up in front of her home, and the driver pointed a gun at the man in her front yard.

"He`s telling him 'freeze right now,' and the kid is kind of just like scared and he`s - I`m like 'oh my God. Is this guy gonna shoot him? Is it gonna be like a shootout?'" Stein said.

There were no gunshots. Instead, Stein says the man ran back towards the gas station -- the tow truck following behind.

"All the police are back there already so I`m like 'oh they got them' and there`s more police back there," Stein said.

The driver of the vehicle struck by the stolen car was conveyed to a hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
