Threats made to convenience stores, but what are the suspects asking for?

OCONOMOWOC (WITI) -- A series of threats are being made at convenience stores and pharmacies around southeast Wisconsin. It's creating a heightening police response, evacuations and disruptions.

From a Walgreens in Sussex to a Brookfield 7-Eleven, five bomb threats came in on Friday -- another three called in on Monday. The caller demands the clerk put money on an automatic debit-type card and give the caller the number for it over the phone. If not, the caller threatens that a bomb will go off.

In the Town of Oconomowoc, the Milwaukee County Bomb Squad was called in. The store was evacuated. Police say the call came right to the store clerk.

"The clerk was smart. She was giving notes to customers because she was on the phone, telling customers to call 911," said Lt. Russel Paar of the Oconomowoc Police Department.

In summer 2013, similar threats were made to a series of Walmarts and Kmarts in the Milwaukee area. Officials at that time say no money was ever put on cards for the callers in this area.

The FBI tells FOX6 News it is aware of the situation and will help officials identify who is making the threats.
