Signature-gatherers say 300,000 signatures collected

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's opponents say they have collected more than 300,000 signatures in just 12 days, or 1.040 signatures per hour! That's more than half of the 540,208 signatures needed to force a recall election, with 48 days left before the signatures are due.

Republicans say they're preparing for Democrats to gather enough signatures to force an election, but believe signature-gatherers are guilty of misconduct and they plan to challenge the validity of a number of signatures.

"This recall effort is nothing more than a partisan power grab being pushed on Wisconsin families by liberal special interests.  Despite the democratic attempts to generate false momentum in their never-ending effort to score political points, Wisconsin families are only interested in moving our state forward," Karen Egan is one of thousands of volunteers collecting signatures across the state, and says she's surprised at the number of signatures that have been gathered over the past 12 days. "I didn't think we'd get this far this quickly. It makes it look like it'll be a little easier to get to the end," Egan said.

Governor Walker is raising campaign money, should there be a recall election, and has taken to the airwaves to defend his record in office and send the message that his reforms are working.
