Officials say the shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday near 11th and Washington Avenue. Police responded to a report of shots fired.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 37-year-old woman deceased. Their investigation determined that the deceased woman was an innocent victim; caught in crossfire between at least two suspects firing upon each other.

Friends and family identified the woman as Chala Davis-Bell.

Hours after the tragedy, loved ones came together in a spot that has caused them so much pain.
Deja Bradley was with her best friend, Davis-Bell, dancing outside their car when their happiness turned to fear.
"They took somebody that was great. They took somebody that was great," Bradley said. "Her last words to me were ‘they shot me, friend.’"
She’s remembering a life taken suddenly by gun violence.
"That’s going to forever be marked in my head, in my mind. ‘They shot me, friend! They shot me, friend,’" Bradley said.
Neighbors say in recent weeks, the area has been plagued with violence.
"This did not stop, period," Bradley said. "She ain’t gone. She right here."
Violence uptick
What we know:
"It’s been mass chaos over here in this neighborhood when it was quiet and peaceful," said Baker Bossalini, who heard gunshots.
Police say already in July, there have been two homicides and six people injured by gun violence in Racine.
City leaders came together on Tuesday, with a message for those responsible.
"We’re going to find you," Racine Police Chief Alex Ramirez said. "We’re going to prosecute you and if you’re found guilty, you’re going to go to jail."

The Racine Police Department is asking for the community's assistance in identifying the suspects responsible for this "incredibly reckless and senseless tragedy," a news release says.
