Police: Convicted felon arrested at crime scene of attempted burglary
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- District 5 officers from the Milwaukee Police Department arrested a convicted felon while he was still at the crime scene of an attempted burglary.
According to police, officers were dispatched to 24th and Burleigh at about 1:20 a.m. on September 18th after a caller reported someone was trying to break into his business.
When police arrived on the scene, they noticed a man matching the description of the suspect sitting on the steps of the business.
The caller told police he noticed the suspect prying at the windows with a tool and attempting to break in.
When officers took the suspect into custody, they found a screwdriver in the sweatshirt he was wearing.
The suspect is a 20-year-old Milwaukee man and has a previous felony conviction of driving or operating a vehicle without an owner’s consent.
He also has two misdemeanor theft convictions.
Milwaukee Police will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
