DEFOREST — Dane County authorities say a nail gun and knife were found where a Madison man allegedly killed his developmentally disabled 16-year-old son then attempted to kill himself.
Emergency responders were called to Token Creek County Park near DeForest, north of Madison, Tuesday evening, July 21st. The 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. His 47-year-old father was flown to UW Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office says investigators believe the nail gun and knife were the weapons used in the incident, but officials aren't saying how.
The medical examiner says the boy died of "homicidal trauma" but adds that it won't release details because of the ongoing investigation.
The father remained in critical condition Thursday.
The sheriff's office says the family was facing a change in the boy's respite care services. WMTV reports the boy was diagnosed with Angelman's Syndrome.
