MPD performs internal investigation on assistant chief

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Police Department Assistant Chief Darryl Winston is being investigated for what happened when police officers found him inside an idling car in an alley on December 20th near 31st and Silver Spring Ave.

A police officer conducting a field interview on two males when he found out one of them was 51-year-old Assistant Chief Winston. Winston told officers the other man was his nephew, and now police aren't sure he was telling truth.

Winston was in command of the Professional Standards Bureau, which makes sure officers follow the rules. Now, his own department wants to know exactly what he was doing in a back alley on Milwaukee's northwest side.

Winston has 28 years of police experience on the police force.
