What they're saying:
"It's terrifying and it's scary and I'm just wishing someone can give us some answers," said Hershey Sebring, a neighbor.
FOX6 News reached out to the Office of Community Wellness and Safety, In a statement, Director Adam Procell issued the following statement:
"What we’re witnessing is deeply troubling — an increasing inability as a city to resolve conflict without resorting to violence. Our partners; 414 LIFE, Promise Keepers, and Critical Response team are actively engaged in the community and hospital every day, intervening in real time to prevent retaliation and escalation, as well as engaging with community members and organizations to proactively engage in areas with higher concentrated incidents of violence before it happens.
"Because our office is focused on coordinating long-term, system-level prevention — not just reacting incident by incident — it can be difficult to immediately respond to every media request in the moment, especially while we are actively engaged in that work around the clock. Immediate reaction can also unintentionally narrow the public’s understanding of what our office is responsible for — when the real solution requires infrastructure, alignment, and prevention before the violence ever happens."
