Milwaukee fatal shooting Sunday

One person is dead and six others were injured in different shootings across Milwaukee on Sunday, July 27.

19th and Nash

What we know:

One person is dead and another was injured in a shooting around 1:48 p.m. Sunday.

Scene near 19th and Nash, Milwaukee

The first victim, a 62-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim, a 53-year-old sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Neighbors in the area heard the shots and said both victims were men.

Scene near 19th and Nash, Milwaukee

After the shooting, police immediately taped off half of the block and started questioning witnesses.

One man, Rodney Harris, said he knew the victims and called 911.

Harris said the 62-year-old was getting ready to do some work on his father's house before the shooting. He said once the shooting started, bullets flew in his direction.

Scene near 19th and Nash, Milwaukee

"I was sitting on a bench and my keys were right next to me and I went to go pick my keys up and someone told me my keys were under the bench, so I go to pick them up and this is what I seen, so I guess one of the bullets hit my key," Harris said.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Police continue to seek anyone involved.

Water and Knapp

What we know:

A 31-year-old was shot and wounded near the intersection of Water Street and Knapp Street around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 27. The victim suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Two people were shot and killed in downtown Milwaukee on Saturday and a private security company is now pushing for change.

Milwaukee police are seeking an unknown shooter. 

62nd and Marion

What we know:

Around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers were dispatched to the area near 62nd and Marion. Once on the scene, police located a 26-year-old who was shot and wounded.

MPD said they have a suspect in custody and are not seeking any other suspects.

41st and Meinecke

What we know:

A 36-year-old victim was shot around 3 p.m. and arrived at a hospital for treatment. MPD said the shooting was not reported until Wednesday, July 30.

What led to the shooting remains under investigation. Police are looking for whoever is responsible.

26th and Kilbourn

What we know:

It happened around 6 p.m. The 52-year-old victim sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Police have a suspect in custody and at this time are not seeking any additional suspects.

28th and Highland

What we know:

A 19-year-old and 41-year-old were both shot and injured around 6:17 p.m. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Police are looking for the shooter.

North Long Island Drive and Custer Avenue

What we know:

Three people were shot around 10:41 p.m. A 16-year-old sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Two other victims, ages 16 and 17, were treated for injuries at the hospital.

50th and Wright

What we know:

A 23-year-old was shot and wounded around 11:50 p.m. 

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Milwaukee police continue to seek unknown/known suspect(s).
