Milwaukee police officers, neighbors help save man's life
MILWAUKEE -- A 64-year-old man has neighbors and Milwaukee police to thank for saving his life on the city's northwest side early on Thursday, April 21st.
Officers were dispatched to the neighborhood near 76th and Dean Rd. just before 1 a.m. early Thursday for a welfare check. A person called 911 because she had not seen her neighbor, the 64-year-old man, for several days and this was out of the ordinary.
When the officers arrived on the scene, the man’s car and motorcycle was still in his garage -- but no one answered the door when they knocked.
The officers eventually decided to force entry into the home to check on the man's welfare. When they did, they found the man lying face down on the floor. The man had suffered a medical episode, suspected to be a stroke. Officials say the man could not remember basic information about himself.
The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of several medical issues. Doctors at the hospital credited the actions of the officers in helping to save the man’s life.
