A Milwaukee police chase ended with a fatal crash at Humboldt and Brady.
MILWAUKEE - A police chase in Milwaukee on Tuesday night, July 29, ended in a fatal crash.

What we know:
The Milwaukee Police Department said the pursuit began around 9:22 p.m. near Humboldt and Pleasant.
According to police, officers observed a reckless vehicle and attempted to make a stop. The driver refused and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

The pursuit ended when the driver struck another vehicle on N. Humboldt Avenue and W. Brady Street, about a mile and a half away.

The 28-year-old motorist of the other vehicle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office as El Moctar Sidiya. A passenger of the struck vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at the hospital.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle, a 22-year-old, was arrested and transported to a hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.

Video from a business across the street caught the chase and crash.
Patricia Sallis owns Sole Salvation just across the street. She was surprised the police would chase there.

"I think you have to consider a district like this. This is a nighttime business district," she said. "There's a lot of traffic here at nighttime as well. So there can be a lot of traffic on Brady Street in the evenings."

"It's real heartbreaking stuff," Milwaukee resident Jeremy Erickson said. "So thoughts and prayers out to the family and everything affected."

"Innocent driver ends up being the victim, and it is unfortunate," Sallis said.
