Milwaukee police busy investigating eight shooting incidents



MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police were busy investigating violence over the weekend, in the form of eight separate shooting incidents. Those who live in the communities where the violence occurred say they hope this isn't the start of a very violent summer.

Police say a 58-year-old Milwaukee man suffered multiple stab wounds near the 700 block of W. Madison Avenue.

Police say a 19-year-old man was taken into custody.

Police say a 35-year-old Beloit man was shot near the 7600 block of W. Wabash Court around 4:00 p.m.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The man reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Police say the investigation continues.

Police say a 35-year-old Milwaukee man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach near the 4400 block of N. 41st Street around 5:30 p.m.

The man was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Police were investigating a shots fired complaint in the 2800 block of N. 19th Street at approximately 5:00 pm.

During the investigation a citizen witness provided officers with a description of the suspect they observed shooting a handgun.

The officers located a subject matching that description behind a house in the 2800 block of N. 19th Street. Officers ordered the suspect to stop, but he fled into the house.

The officers located casings behind the house along with what appeared to be a bullet hole into the side of the residence that the suspect had fled.

Members of the Tactical Enforcement Unit along with negotiators were called to the scene.

Negotiators were able to get the suspect, a 29-year-old Milwaukee man to peacefully surrender. The firearm believed to have been used in the shots fired was recovered from inside the home. The suspect was placed under arrest for Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon.

There was a large crowd watching this police operation -- two members of the crowd were detained by police but were not placed under arrest and will not face any charges.

The violence continued into the night and overnight hours.

Police say a 26-year-old Milwaukee man was shot in the chest near the 2600 block of N. 34th Street around 8:50 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say the man suffered two gunshot wounds to the chest.

He was taken to the hospital and was listed in serious condition.

Police continue to investigate. No one is in custody.

While following up on this shooting, FOX6's A.J. Bayatpour head several gunshots, and discovered a man being treated on the sidewalk Sunday afternoon, April 7th.

Police say the shooting occurred in the 2600 block of N. 38th Street just before 1:30 p.m.

A 32-year-old Milwaukee man suffered a gunshot wound to the hip. He was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Police say their preliminary investigation reveals the motive may be robbery related.

Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred in the 4700 block of N. 30th Street around 10:00 p.m. Saturday night.

Police say a 40-year-old Milwaukee man was involved in a domestic dispute during which he was stabbed several times. He was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Police say they have a person of interest in custody in connection with this incident.

Police say a juvenile was shot near the 2100 block of W. Burnham around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say a juvenile male walked into a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his left thigh.

Police say the shooting took place in the alley around 10:30 p.m.

The investigation continues as to circumstance, motive and suspect(s).

Police say a 37-year-old Milwaukee woman was shot near the 2000 block of N. 35th Street around 12:20 a.m.

Police say an argument was taking place on the sidewalk, when several shots were fired.

Police say the woman was struck in the buttocks.

The woman was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Also injured was a 28-year-old Milwaukee man, who sustained a graze wound to his left foot. He declined medial treatment.

Police continue to investigate. No one is in custody.
